History
The Foundation was formed de
facto on April 8, 2002 and recognized de jure on September 20, 2004 by the
State of Illinois and received its federal status on September 30, 2005.
Preceding the formation of PIIFF, Inc., a dedicated group of scholars,
genealogists, and descendants of Prince Ibrahima (Abduhl Rahahman) and
Isabella had acted since 1999 as the Freedom Festival Committee their only
income being contributions from their own membership. During this early part
of the Foundation’s development, the Freedom Festival Committee accomplished
many worthwhile activities and projects, representing well all those who had
an interest in what is known as the Prince Ibrahima and Isabella Freedom
Foundation, Inc.
