Membership Levels

   Ebony

   Mahogany

   Ivory

The Prince Ibrahima and Isabella Freedom Foundation is also a membership based association for living descendants of Prince Ibrahima and Isabella Mawdho and other individuals who choose to support the organization. Currently, the majority of members are people of African descent geographically located in Africa, the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. The Foundation has enjoyed the membership of over 200 individuals since its inception and is currently proud to have a membership family of over 125 individuals and families.

Membership is divided into three (3) levels: Ebony, Mahogany and Ivory.

Ebony

Membership at this level consists of persons who signed the Foundation’s Articles of Incorporation, any person who was a member of the Initial Board of Directors (but members of the Board of Directors need not be Ebony Members), and other such high caliber individuals whose visions and philosophies are compatible with the vision and philosophies of the Foundation. Applications for Ebony Membership are based on approval by two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Board of Directors at any organizational meeting or at its annual meeting. The President of the Foundation may also appoint members to this class.

Mahogany

Any natural person of good moral character or any corporation, association, or organization whose visions and philosophies are compatible with the vision and philosophies of the Foundation is eligible for membership in this class. Applications for Mahogany Membership are approved by two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Board of Directors at any meeting of the Board.

Ivory

Granted to any natural person of good moral character, or any corporation, association or organization whose visions and philosophies are compatible with the vision and philosophies of the Foundation, and whose body of scholarly work advances reconciliation of historically adverse groups; and/or whose community activism promotes peaceful conflict resolution in ethnic, religious or racial matters; and/or if the the Foundation's Board of Directors determines such individuals based on other criteria to be worthy of the honor.

 

Candidates for membership at this level may be nominated through a resolution of the Board of Directors or through appointment by the President of the Foundation, or by majority vote of the members entitled to vote on the matter.
